THE SOUL RUNNERS (Mosoul)
Side A: Last Date Side B: Charley
Great little seven here by Charles Wright's earlier combo The Soul Runners with their cracking B side "Charley", a latin boogaloo jazz number for dancers.
Great dancer 45 here! "Boogaloo N°3" is the main track here with its irresistible driving beat, killer guitar hooks and deep barytone blows. B side is also a very good one, never misses to shake people up. Rare UK press on Action!
Side A: Boogaloo-Tramp Side B: Talkin' Bout My Friends
First pressing of this classic boogaloo track, both sides are great, and never fails to lift a crowd!
Year: 1966 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: VG+(+)/Plain White Price: SOLD
DIZZY GILLESPIE (Perception)
Side A: Soul Kiss Part.1 Side B: Soul Kiss Part.2
Rare single by jazz legend Dizzy, "Soul Kiss" is a hip funky jazz number with fat syncopated drums, organ and that trumpet kiss. Arranged and composed by Mike Longo, from "The Real Thing" LP. Classy!
Year: 1970 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: EX/Plain white Price: SOLD
SERGE GAINSBOURG - SEX SHOP + SI J'ETAIS UN ESPION OST (Hortensia)
Side A: Sex Shop Side B: Générique / Break Down
Top rare SP here from 1991 of the infamous soundtrack "Si J'étais un espion" from 1967 never released at the time. For legal reasons, most copies were deleted leaving only around 300 copies worldwide! Michel Colombier is at the controls, so expect big funky drums and a moody vibe, top drawer stuff!
THE LAURIE JOHNSON ORCHESTRA / CHAPEAU MELON ET BOTTES DE CUIR OST (Emi)
Side A: The New Avengers Theme Side B: L'Homme Au Chapeau Melon
This one's a corker of a 45, A side kicks off with an tremendous funk version of the theme backed with slashing wah wah, pounding bass and killer drums, the orchestra is of course in top form. B side's continues with John Steed talking about the famous series, in French, with short but lethal interceded funk pieces. Total KPM library sound, only released in France!
Rare salsa/boogaloo 7' by explosive duo Tony Rojas and Tito Ramos, both tracks come from the "Simbolos Sexuales" LP, produced by top man George Goldner.
Great split 12" with two classic banging numbers, A side is killer afro-psych-funk by the Bunch and B side track originated drum&bass with its many-times sampled breaks, a great item on 12!
All-time killer northern soul and number one hit by late Chicago singer Edwin Starr, "War" is just unmissable, one of my faves. The flip is also great material, a classic but must-have single!
Side A: I Learned It All The Hard Way Side B: Part-Time Love
Strong soul by Macon-born sing/songwriter Howard Tate, a cool blues-soul alternative to the dancefloor, "Part-Time Love" is perfec as a finishing track.
Killer R&B/Funk by singer, producer and songwriter Harvey Scales, both sides are explosive and great tools for all DJs out there! "Get Down" never fails to get people moving their asses.
Year: 1968 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: VG (name mark on other side's label)/Plain White Price: SOLD
CHICK WILLIS (La Val)
Side A: Stoop Down Baby Side B: It Ain't Right
Rare R&B seven by Chick "Motherfuyer" Willis, great blues, great production by Vic Laval from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Rare French PS by late UK singer/choreographer Vic Upshaw. "Dance the Popcorn" is the
best and rarest output by Upshaw and is produced by Mickey Baker. Both tracks are similar, probably the same one with different edits and vocals, the cleanest copy I've seen in years.
LION WARFIELD / THE LIONS - DEEP THROAT OST (Vogue)
Side A: Bubbles Side B: Gorgeous Linda
French-only OST SP mixing two different styles, garage pop and jerk. "Bubbles" comes from the original OST but the sound here is much better and "Gorgeous Linda" is an original composition by J.P. Sabar, probably a special order for this odd French release of Deep Throat.
Year: 1975 Vinyl / Sleeve condition:EX/VG+ (pen marks) Price: SOLD
THE AMBOY DUKES (Polydor)
Side A: Simon Says Side B: The Marquis
UK-only 45 by this obscure British band which also took its band name from the Irvin Shulman book. The B side caught my attention here, a laid-back instro funk number with strong bass, drum breaks and Mohawks-style horns. Tasty and shit rare!
Favourite singer/performer Jacques Brel is here in great form on his last album, so many good tracks including the killer latin breakbeat/funk intro of Les F... (J. Donato cover).
Altough "Go Back" was a top 40 hit back in the days, the B side does it for me, uptempo psych-pop with percussion, organ and great drum work, a nice little dancer to add to your collection.
Year: 1970 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: EX/EX Price: SOLD
RESONANCE (SIROCCO)
Side A: OK Chicago Side B: Yellow Train
Another French-only release, "OK Chicago" is so tough it's just unbelievable. Blaxploitation funk in its most devastating form, it was oddly enough penned by late French composer/singer Pierre Bachelet. Car screeches, gun shots, moog, killer wah guitar and big drums, the works!
If you don't already own this, you should really put your hands on this EX copy!
Year: 1973 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: EX/EX Price: SOLD
JOHNNY JOHNSON & THE BAND WAGON (BELL)
Side A: (Blame It) On The Poney Express Side B: Never Let Her Go
Nice PS of this US funky soul band including their UK hit "On the Poney Express" on the A side.
Year: 1970 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: VG+/EX Price: SOLD
THE BIG SCREEN / Various Artists (KPM 1100)
Great cuts on this 1000 series UK library. Main tracks here are "Cutting Point" by Johnny Pearson and "Vistavision" by Werner Tautz.
Sweet little compilation that features two tracks taken from the cult "Streaking" LP by Jean-Claude Pelletier, the clavinet/organ madness of "Special Streaking" and "Nudes and Marines". The original LP is so rare you better go for this comp, absolute killer!
Absolute killer blaxplo soundtrack by Barbara Mason, New Birth, Sister Goose & The Ducklings and Badder Than Evil, so many good tracks here! One of my personal favourites. Produced by Harvey Fuqua, Al Elias and Andy Badale.
Year: 199? Vinyl / Sleeve condition: VG++/EX Price: SOLD
SOUND ILLUSTRATION FOR RADIO-TV-CINEMA N°8 (DISCOBOLE)
Rare French library by B. Lamastre and R. Bresson full of funk loops and drum breaks in "Romanin Rock", "Mistral Funky", "Glanum City", "Alpilles Rhtyhm" and "Bouvaou"...
A consistent LP for the 80's sampler.
Year: 198? Vinyl / Sleeve condition: EX/VG+ Price: SOLD
JACQUES HIGELIN - BBH75 (EMI)
One of the finest LPs by Higelin, this one features the great "Monalisa Klaxon" and the hip-hop loop intro of "Oesophage Boogie Cardiac Blues".
One for disco-house DJs and collectors, here's the rare soundtrack of "Vivre Vite", movie directed by Carlos Saura.
Its score features two great dance numbers and flamenco songs from 1974 to 1980 including "Hell Dance With Me" (El Infierno Baila Conmigo).
Side A: Burundi Black PT.1 Side B: Burundi Black PT.2
Great Afro/psych single by Mike Steïphenson with weird guitar and keyboard arrangements.
Year: 1971 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: VG++/EX. Price: SOLD
ROTATION (POLYDOR)
Side A: RA-TA-TA Side B: Rotation
The B-side has my attention here, killer minimal funk with ocarina, obsessive piano chords and big fat drums by this obscure German combo.
Year: 197? Vinyl / Sleeve condition: EX/VG++(Signature mark otherwise EX) Price: SOLD
MARTIN CIRCUS (VOGUE)
Side A: Je M'Eclate Au Sénégal Side B: Moi J'aime Bien Prendre Mon Pied
Hit single by French prog pop funk band Martin Circus with the A side reaching up the charts, but check out the flip, "Moi J'aime Bien..." is a great jazz-funk number!
Year: 1971 Vinyl / Sleeve condition: EX/EX Price: SOLD
